Question

Payroll taxes

I just started using QB for payroll. I noticed that it "pulls" money aside for payroll taxes, but it doesn't appear to pull the funds from the bank.  I need to pay the payroll taxes and I'm not sure if the money is set aside in QB, or if I have to pull money from the bank account.  Please help, I'm brand new at this!

Thank you for choosing QuickBooks Online (QBO) and welcome to the Community forum, @katestarsandstripes. I'm happy to guide you in filing your payroll taxes.

Let me first discuss information about this.

In QBO, taxes and payroll will be pulled out of the bank account that you've set up. For reference, feel free to check this article: Pay and file payroll taxes and forms in Online Payroll.

Also, there are two ways how you can pay the payroll taxes. If the automatic tax payment is turned on, we're the one to process tax payments as long as the payroll set-up is completed and your electronic services are activated. On the other hand, if the feature is turned off, below are the steps you can perform:

  1. In your QBO company file, go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Then, select Payroll Tax and click Payments.
  3. Next, select Make Payment.
  4. To complete your tax payment, follow the on-screen steps.

Please let me know how this goes. I'd appreciate any updates you can add about this. If you have any other concerns with paying payroll taxes, don't hesitate to leave a comment below. I'm just a post away to lend a hand. Have a great week ahead and take care.
