Payroll withholding

If you were able to record an employee's voluntary payment for federal income tax before, it's possible that the payroll item associated with this was inactive. To check this, you can navigate to the payroll item list under the List tab and remove the X mark by deselecting the Payroll Item is Inactive box.

Once done, you can set up the payroll item directly from the payroll item list or through the employer's profile. To create a new payroll item, please follow these steps:

1. Go to the Item List page.
2. Click on the Payroll Item dropdown menu.
3. Select New from the dropdown menu. 

In order to set up a payroll deduction for an employee, you can access the Payroll Center under the Employees tab. From there, select the employee in question and navigate to the Payroll tab. Under this tab, you can add a new item name for the deduction you wish to make. This will enable you to easily manage the employee's payroll deductions.
