Paystub Password

I recently started a job and I just got emailed my paystub. It says it is a password protected pdf. I tried the first 4 letters of my last name and last 4 os my social, i've tried the first 3 and 4 letters of my last name and my birthdate MMDDYYYY and YYYYMMDD. Am I doing something wrong? I typed everything lowercase and no special characters. Thank you.

    Let me help with viewing your paystubs, @londra.

     

    You did the right thing. By combining the first four letters of your last name and the last four digits of your Social Security Number, you'll get the password to unlock the paystub.PDF file. In addition, the details you have shared about the password are correct except for the YYYYMMDD.

     

    An example is Mickell Collus' Social Security Number was 987-65-4321, and his password to view the emailed pay stub would be coll4321. Please note that this system-generated information will change when the employee's name and social security number are updated within QuickBooks Desktop before an employer creates a paycheck for the employee.

     

    Additionally, here are some other details about password requirements for emailed pay stubs that you can use:

     

    • The first three characters of the employee’s last name are followed by the Employee’s Date of Birth in MMDDYYYY format.
    • If the employee’s last name is shorter than 3 characters, use the whole last name (do not append the first name to it). These three characters are always lower case. The only time an employee's password would contain an uppercase character is if the first character of the employee's last name was extended. QuickBooks Desktop does not convert extended characters to lowercase.
    • Any non-alpha character is removed from the last name (no dash, space, etc) when building the password.

     

    The following are examples:

    • The password for Ben Narramore with Date of Birth 01 November 1958 would be nar11011958
    • The password for Deb D'Spain with Date of Birth 12 January 1978 would be dsp01121978
    • The password for Jimmy Wu with Date of Birth 01 February 2001 would be wu02012001

    I have followed the steps for employees to view their paycheck stubs but it is not working.

    Let me chime in on this conversation to assist you in successfully letting your employees view their paystubs.

     

     First off, would you mind If I ask if your employees happen to encounter any error messages while trying to view their paystubs? This will help me determine the appropriate solution based on the scenario. Any additional information such as screenshots will be much appreciated.

     

    In the meantime, let's perform the following solutions to isolate this issue:

     

    • Send emails to yourself. This tells you if there's a problem with your email service.
    • Ask your employees to check their email spam folders and filters that might block emails.
    • Make sure employees enter the correct password. If they still can't open the email, here's how to fix your webmail password.

     

    If the issue still persists, I'd recommend contacting Payroll Support. This will let them look into this matter and perform screen sharing safely if needed to provide you with a permanent solution and prevent this unusual behavior.

    I'm having trouble viewing my paystub plus my deposit was made around 4pm yesterday and it's not showing up in my account.

    First of all, I want to ask if you received an error message while viewing the pay stub. This way we can check if that's the problem, any additional information also such as screenshots would be a great help.

     

    For now, I recommend using a private browser, as it ignores websites from using cookies and doesn’t record any history and data.

     

    Here's how:

     

    • Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
    • Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
    • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N

     

    If this works, I suggest clearing the browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result, I recommend switching to a different supported browser.
