Preview Payroll Report

Hello - I recently started working with QB and am learning as I go. 
Do I need a subscription to be able to generate a preview payroll report (a report that shows payroll expenses without/before running payroll?)

if no subscription is needed, where is this report option located?

To generate a payroll report in QuickBooks, you need to have a payroll subscription. However, if you do not have a subscription and still want to track paychecks, you can set up manual payroll.


To set up manual payroll in QuickBooks Desktop, follow these simple steps: 

 

  1. Go to the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Select Payroll & Employees, then click the Company Preferences tab.
  3. In the QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Features section, choose the Full payroll and the Manual Payroll checkboxes.

  4. In the Get payday peace of mind window, click Next and then Activate in the confirmation screen.
  5. Choose OK to apply the changes.
  6. Lastly, select OK to exit out of the preferences window.
