Problem changing state tax id

Our tax ID is really old. The State changed it to a larger number. I cannot update the new number. Error says I can't change, that I need to call customer service. I did, they put it up ladder and said someone would call me back the next day. that was 5 days ago.

Hello there, lbrady.

 

We'll have to deactivate your state electronic services first to be able to change the state account number. Let me show you how: 

  1. Select the Gear icon, then choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Click E-file and e-pay.
  3. Select Next to proceed until you reach the State Taxes overview page.
  4. Click Manually with paper coupon.
  5. Then Next.

After deactivating, you can follow the detailed steps on this page on how to update your state account number and reactivate your electronic services. I'd still suggest contacting our Payroll Support Team so they can get you through errors when updating the state account number.

Thank you for your reply, the printed out coupon however states on it that "this form must be filed electronically unless a waiver is approved by the department..." Our wi dept of revenue said try support through QBO first, it would be easier!
