Question

QB Online - wrong states showing in payroll and taxes, and wrong automatic returns are being filed by QB.

I recently migrated from QB Desktop to QB Online. Under Payroll, I see several states in which I do not have any active employees (past, released and deactivated employees worked in those states in previous years).

Under Taxes, I see that QB is automatically filing for me tax returns in those spurious states. This happens although automatic filing and payments are disabled.

I spent 8 hours on the phone with 4 different QB support representatives, but they don't know how to disable and remove the spurious states, nor how to stop the spurious filing of tax returns in those states.

Can anyone help?

@Mark_R, Thank you for your response. I hope that your administrators will indeed follow up and contact me with a solution to these problems in the nearest term. It has been 12 days since I reported the issues to Intuit but no one has followed up in spite of several promises to do so.

In the meantime I am not using QB at all (and not able to process payroll) for fear that these issues, which appear to be major bugs in QB Online, cannot be fixed in the near term, and I will have to go back to using QB Desktop.

I am having the same issue.

Was your issue resolved? I can not find any help. Did you find another program to switch to that you would recommend? Quickbooks online is the absolute worst!
