I appreciate your effort, @Barry K. I have a workaround and troubleshooting steps to enter the employee hire date in QuickBooks successfully.

QuickBooks Payroll mobile app has the functionality to enter an employee hire date. Thus, you should be able to record it without delay. No worries, I have troubleshooting steps to help fix the issue.

Let's record your employee hire date by logging in to your phone browser. This way, we can conclude if there is a problem with the app itself. Follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and select Employees
  2. Pick the employee name in the list if it's already there, but if not yet, click Add employee
  3. Go to the Employee details section and click Edit
  4. Pick the appropriate date in the calendar icon.
  5. Hit Save

If you're able to save the hire date in the browser, I'd recommend resetting your mobile app. This is the same as clearing the cache from your web browser. Do the following:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Reset App Data.
  3. Click OK.

If the problem persists, please uninstall and reinstall the app for a clean slate. You do not need to worry since it won't delete any of your app's transactions or data.

Here's how:

  1. On your homepage, touch and hold the QuickBooks app.
  2. Click Remove, then tap the Delete App to confirm.
  3. Install the app again.

Once ready, you can create a paycheck for your employee. For complete steps, visit this link: Run payroll from the QuickBooks Online app.
