Email I recevied states: We contacted the CA California Employment Development Department (EDD) to verify your state tax rate. The Employment Training Tax (ETT) rate that they provided for the 2021 tax year is: 0.00% We'll use this rate to calculate your tax. For more information about state tax rates, go to https://static.onlinepayroll.intuit.com/flhelp/latest/P007_IFSP/Content/IFSP/taxes_sui_overview_ifsp.htm If you don't think this rate is correct, please contact us: https://c1.qbo.intuit.com/login?deeplinkcompanyid=193514592782849

It's my priority to ensure your ETT rate is correct, jeff-cwaveinc-co.

To fix this, let's edit the rate in the Payroll Settings menu. I'll gladly show you how.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Go to the Gear icon and then select Payroll settings.
  3. Next to the state you want to update, select the Edit icon.
  4. In the CA Employment Training Tax Rates section, select the correct rate.
  5. On the Effective Date field, enter the correct period.
  6. Once done, click on OK.

If you're unable to edit the rate, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They're equipped with tools to help update the rate.

Additionally, I've included an article that will help you stay informed about tax forms, withholdings, unemployment, and other agency information: Payroll Tax Compliance Links

I'm only a few clicks away if you need assistance with your other payroll tasks, jeff-cwaveinc-co. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.

Hi CharleneMae:

Thanks, I was able to access the CA Employment Training Tax Rates section.

But I don't know what is the correct rate and Effective Date period to enter.

Isn't this why we pay for a payroll company...?

Is there someone at QuickBooks who can help us figure this out?

Do they have a phone number so I can speak with them?

Thanks,

Jeff
