The new QB online payroll seems to have a bug Exporting payroll or tax transactions to QB Mac Desktop.  When you select "Export" the feedback says that transactions have been exported, but no .iif files are downloaded.  I have tried this with both payroll and tax deposit transactions.

I'll help you with exporting your payroll or tax transactions from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac, Eric.

To get started, you need to export your QBO data to QBDT for Windows.

  1. Sign in to QBO and download the migration tool.
  2. Prepare your file for export and select your data in QuickBooks Online for export.
  3. Run the QuickBooks Desktop migration tool.
  4. Wait for the process to finish.

For the detailed instructions, you can check out these articles:

Once the payroll transactions are available in QBDT for Windows, you can proceed with converting into QBDT for Mac.

  1. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
  2. Click on Copy Company File for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
  3. Save the file in your desired location. This creates a file with the extension MAC.qbb.
  4. Copy the file to a DVD, external hard drive, flash drive, or FTP website.
  5. Restore the file in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
