QuickBooks Online Payroll Setup Error - Medicare and SS Percentages
Hi,
I am trying to setup employee's payroll and am entering historical amounts from a spreadsheet where payroll was tracked previously (for 2022).
I get the error: "Error message: The amounts you entered may be incorrect. Social Security and Medicare taxes (FICA) are expected to be percentages of an employee's taxable earnings. Check that the amounts you entered are correct."
I have found these other threads: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/getting-an-error-message-when-trying-to-add-payroll-i-am-adding/00/653459, https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/install/getting-error-message-when-inputting-employees-info-stating/00/474303, https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/how-do-i-get-past-this-error-to-proceed-setting-up-qbo-the/00/240776.
All with the same problem and with no resolution other than "call quickbooks", and plenty of unhelpful comments like (multiply taxable wage by 6.2% or 1.45%). I've done that. I've even toyed with the rounding. Quickbooks obviously has an amount it thinks it should be. The question is, why isn't it giving detail about it and what if a historical amount was incorrect?
I've also called quickbooks and was told by a representative that I should "call the IRS".
Exceptionally frustrated. I need a resolution to this so I can move everything over out of spreadsheets. Is there someone who works at quickbooks that has a solution to this?
