Question

Quickbooks shows payment method manual - I've always paid all payroll taxes through Quickbooks never outside of quickbooks. Can I go back and pay electronically?

I took care of CA PIT/SDI but Federal Taxes are difficult (I'm having to re-enroll EFTPS) thus asking if I can reverse the manual to pay electronically through Quickbooks.

Yes, you can go back and pay your taxes electronically, sccl222p. Let me guide you the process on how.

Since the payment method shows as manual, you can turn on the Automate taxes and forms in the Payroll Settings so you can pay your taxes automatically. To do so follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon⚙, then select Payroll Settings.
  2. From the Taxes and forms section, select Edit ✎.
  3. Review or choose one of the following:
    • If you want QuickBooks to automatically pay your taxes and file your forms, select Automate taxes and forms.
    • If you want to pay and file electronically in QuickBooks, select I’ll initiate payments and filings using QuickBooks.
  4. Select Save, then Done.

However, if it's turned on, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. They can review your account, then check the status of your E-Services to see why the payment is displayed as Manual.

Here are the steps:

  1. Click the Help icon located in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. In the Help window, click the Contact Us button located at the bottom.
  3. Enter your question and click Let's talk.
  4. Choose either Start a chat or Call us.

I’ll share these links to know the payroll taxes and forms that QuickBooks Payroll handles for you and view forms that have been filed in the past:

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to assist you in filing your forms. I'll be around to help you always.
