When I click on the icon to pay the past due state unemployment it prompts a message saying I have to contact quickbooks first. I have requested several calls and have never reached anyone. HOW DO I PAY THESE SUPPOSED PAST DUE STATE UI SO I CAN PAY FEDERAL ON TIME?

I'll help you fix this so you can pay your federal taxes on time, @lynncoanmckee.

You'll have to record the SUI tax due as paid since the system will not go through if the SUI payments are not yet settled. That may be the reason why it won't allow you to resolve.

If you pay SUI outside QuickBooks, you'll have to manually record the payment to remove the tax due. Just follow the steps on how to record them manually:

  1. On the left pane, select Taxes.
  2. At the top left, select the Payroll Tax tab.
  3. In the Payroll Tax Center, click Pay taxes.
  4. Find the tax you want to pay, then click the Record Payment link in the AMOUNT column.
  5. Change the Payment Date
  6. Review the information on the payment.
  7. Click Record Payment

Then, I'd recommend pulling up a payroll report (i.e. Payroll Tax Liability). This is to verify that the federal tax payment is recorded accordingly. Just go to the Payroll section from the Report menu's Standard tab.

Also, our support team may take some time in getting in touch with you due to the high volume of calls and chats. Rest assured that as soon as there's an available person, he/she will call you back. To ensure that you'll be assisted immediately, I recommend checking our support hours.
