Ran payroll, tried to export, get the following: "You can’t export to QuickBooks Online until you fix something. Select the pencil icon to see the issue." No icon found

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to get rid of the error and export your payroll data in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

Before we start, you'll want to make sure all the information in the payroll settings or employee details are correct. This way, you can export your payroll data without an error.

 

After reviewing all the information and still got the error, let's try logging in to your QBO account using a private browser. There are times that the browser stores frequently accessed data, thus causing QBO to act weirdly. Press this shortcut key on your keyboard to open a private browser:

 

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

 

If this works, it means that you need to clear the browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result while using a private browser, I recommend switching to a different one.
