Thanks for joining the Community, @Scott56. I'm here to lend a hand with reactivating your payroll subscription.

Here's how you can reactivate your payroll subscription from within QuickBooks:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Account and Settings.
  2. Select Billing & Subscription on the left.
  3. Click Resubscribe in the Payroll section.

The following link provides an overview of this process: Cancel and Reactivate Your Online Payroll Account.

I'm confident you'll have the account renewed in no time.

I'd be glad to provide additional assistance should you need it. Hoping this response finds you with a smile.

I am having trouble reactivating my acct can you help ?

March 20, 2019

I appreciate you following up with me, @Scott56

The Gear icon should be in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and have included an image to serve as a visual reference:

If your screen doesn't match this, then you may be using the Desktop version of QuickBooks. I'm including an article which covers renewing the service for this version: Renew or Reactivate Your Desktop Payroll Service.

As always, I'm just a post away if you should have any questions. Cheering you to continued success.

Hello there, mazie,

If you're using QuickBooks Online, there's an ongoing investigation on reactivating the subscription. I recommend contacting our QB support so you will be added to the list of affected users. Here's how:

  4. Select Start messaging or Get a callback.

However, if you're using QB Desktop, you can try to update your billing information on the payroll account maintenance page. Here's how:

  1. Select Employees on the menu.
  2. On the drop-down select My Payroll Service, then Account/Billing Information.

Stay in touch with me if you need further assistance. I'll be around to help you more.

Hi

We need to renew the payroll tax tables. how can we do that

July 21, 2021

Thanks for joining us here in the Community, pcolon9.

If you're using QuickBooks Online the tax table is automatically updated, while in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll is you need to update manually. It's also important to get the latest payroll tax table update. This helps us to avoid getting repeated messages such as asking to reactivate the subscription in QuickBooks Desktop. Once done, let's run a payroll update to refresh your payroll settings. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Choose Get Payroll Updates.
  3. Mark the Download Entire Update checkbox
  4. Select Download Latest Update.
  5. A window appears when the download is complete.

Then, go back to QuickBooks and run the latest payroll updates. This way you'll have the latest tax table and rates. Then, if there's a need to re-validate your payroll service. Please follow the steps on this guide: Activate QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

To check the latest tax table, please see his link: Latest Payroll News and Updates.

Add a comment if you have further concerns about your payroll service subscription. The Community and I will always be here to help you. Stay safe!

Having the same issue, when I try to update or renew my subscription it just loads forever with zero progress. I've done this from 2-3 different computers in my office and the outcome is the same. This is completely unacceptable with over an hour wait time on the phone line. We are a small office and our payroll clerk is only part time, you're asking me to have her stay here all day while you try and figure out something that is very crucial to our operations. I have employees that depend on getting these checks, you not only look unprofessional but you make me look bad at the same time!

I know this hasn't been an easy process for you, @VFW_Admin. I appreciate you visiting the Community page to notify us of your experience.

Let me make it up to you by ensuring you'll get the support available so this gets taken care of.

Since the steps didn't work, I understand you have contacted support multiple times, but I'd recommend contact to our QuickBooks Support Team again for further assistance. They have the tools to verify your QuickBooks account and be able to investigate the cause of the problem with reactivating your QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select the Help (?) menu.
  3. Choose the Assistant tab.
  4. Click the Talk to a Human option.
  5. Select Get help from a human.
  6. Click either the Chat with us or Have us call you button.

However, if you're using QuickBooks Desktop, you can still follow these steps.

  1. Click the (?) Help icon in the upper right-hand corner of the dashboard.
  2. Select Talk to a Human.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern and press Enter.
  4. Click the I still need a human.
  5. Select Contact Us to connect with our live support.
  6. Choose to Get a Callback.

This solved it for me.  Copy your payroll key, and paste the same key back under ADD.

Asinine, yes, but it worked because I accidently tripped across this thread after fussing around for an hour and waiting on hold for 30 minutes only to be summarily disconnected by an agent who had to get his call numbers up in India and pretended, he did not hear me.

" You’ll just need to refresh your payroll through re-validating service key. Here’s how:
Go to Employees>My Payroll Service> Manage Service Key.
In QuickBooks Service Keys window, click Edit at the bottom.
Take note of the service key and select Add.
Enter the service key you’ve noted o the service key field.
Select Next and then Finish.
When the Payroll Update message appears, select OK.
Verify the Service Status shows Active and then select OK.

And I'm asking myself, "Self? Why in the name of the mother of all things Evil am I still using this software? It has been improved not one single iota since Y2K.  Just new makeup, chrome, glitter and lipstick.  Nothing worth the exuberant gouging, predatory prices because NOTHING matters at Intuit except making the stock go up, and because of all the competition now, no way to do that except to squeeze existing clients dry and try to move them to the lesser than online product all the whilst tripling the price by disabling 3 year desktop license, now only good for 1 year.  That's a 300% price increase.  700 a year for one user.  Dear Lord, please help me to find a way out of this Intuit prison because woe is me and it is so aggravatingly slow and old and expensive I am considering going back to the DOME book that takes 30 minutes a week, or to work for someone else and let them deal with payroll.
