Hi there, slofo1.

We haven't received any reported cases with customers receiving rejection notice for NY tax payment.

To resolve this, let's start by updating QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to the latest release, as well as the payroll tax table

Here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Go to the File menu at the top.
  2. Then, Close Company/Logoff.
  3. Go back to the File menu and choose Exit.
  4. Right-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon on your desktop, then select Run as administrator.
  5. While on the No Company Open screen, pick Update QuickBooks from the Help menu.
  6. In the Options tab, choose Mark All and Save.
  7. Mark the Reset Update box in the Update Now tab.
  8. Click the Get Updates button.
  9. Once the Update Complete appears, close and re-open the program.
  10. If you get the message to install update, select Yes. Restart your computer after the installation.

When done, proceed by downloading the latest tax table update:

  1. From the Employees menu, choose Get Payroll Updates
  2. Tap Download entire payroll update.
  3. Select the Download Entire Update checkbox.
  4. Click Download Latest Update.

A window will appears once the download is complete.

Once done, check the status of the tax payment. If the status is Agency Rejected, click the Agency Rejected link. Review the payment information and the problem and solution messages sent by the agency in the E-payment Rejected window. Then, select Click Void Rejected E-payment.

After that, you may now either resubmit the e-payment or create a printed liability check.

For more details about handling a rejected tax payment, see this article: Handle an e-payment that has been rejected by the agency.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment below if you have any additional questions or concerns. I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you. Have a good one!

MAKES NO SENSE - BUG IN PROGRAM???

3-day and 5-day filers - Ensure your deposit frequency is setup correctly in QuickBooks. This error can occur when the deposit frequency is incorrectly set to Quarterly.

You can also find this information in product by doing the following:

From the Payroll Center in QuickBooks, click the Related Payment Activities drop-down arrow, and then click View E-payment History. From here, you can click "void rejected e-payment", make your corrections, and resubmit.

Thank you for using Intuit QuickBooks Payroll to process your payroll tax payments and filings.
