Sample Payroll Chart of Accounts with Numbering

Hello,

 

I'm setting up a new chart of accounts, and I'm seeking a sample payroll accounts with numbering.  I know the accounts it's the numbers that I mostly need.  Google has not been that helpful. I'm looking in the QB sample company right now.

I appreciate you posting here in the Community with this matter. However, were unable to suggest numbers for the accounts.

Although, we can suggest you to search again online or reach out to your accountant. This way, they can guide you further in setting up your Chart of accounts and they can suggest some payroll accounts with numbering. Also, they can provide you with the advice to keep your books accurate.

COA (Chart of Accounts) vary by company, system, industry, requirements and preferences.  Suggest you start with an account structure/framework and then fill in down to detail level needed.  Here is explanation on that:

To setup payroll accounts would need to know what is needed:
- Using timesheets, what system?

- Using QB or 3rd party payroll service?

- Doing cash or accrual-basis accounting?

- Salaried or hourly employees?  OT?

- Paid Leave, like PTO, Holiday?

- Employee health insurances?

- Employee 401k contributions?
