I work for a church and we are exempt from state unemployment. I need to set up the WA Cares rate but it is done through WA-unemployment rate in payroll. How do I get around this?

Thanks for posting here, @peachtea.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), we can check if you set up the state WA unemployment and if it's taking out taxes. If so, we'll have to do an adjustment since your company is exempt from state unemployment.

Here's how to check:

1. Go to the Reports menu.

2. Hover over the Employees & Payroll menu, and then choose Payroll Summary.

From there, if you see the WA unemployment, you'll have to do a payroll adjustment, but if not there's nothing that needs to be done.

I've added this link about setting WA cares in QuickBooks: Setting up WA Cares rate for a church exempt from unemployment.
