Happy to have you here in the Community, @ahorgan. Let me address your concern regarding social security compensation in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

A wage base limit is a taxable earnings limits on a per-employee basis. Taxes may stop or increase after an employee exceeds the cap.

Kindly check out this link for your reference regarding wage bases and limits.

You can also run a Payroll Tax and Wage Summary report to review the wage base limits of the employee. This report details how QuickBooks calculates tax amounts on employee paychecks, as well as the wage base limit for each tax for each employee.

Let me show you how:

  1. Form the left navigation pane, select Reports menu.
  2. Look for Payroll Tax and wage Summary report.
  3. From the Date Range ▼ drop-down menu, select This Year.
  4. Select Run Report.
  5. Choose the tax type you want to see the wage base for.
