State Unemployment (Alaska) - employee rate is wrong

Trying to run the first payroll for 2024 but the State SUI rate (Alaska) for employees is wrong.  I've checked to make sure I'm using the most recent version and run all the payroll updates but it's still wrong.  Unfortunately QB will not allow us to update the employee rate.  I cannot express the level of frustration since I'm under the payroll deadline.  Is there anyway to correct the employee rate and/or to flag this issue to QB?  For someone who is only available at night it's impossible to connect with them.

Any update for us in Alaska on when Quickbooks will update our ESC Employee tax rate that changed 01/01/2024?  Those of us who do payroll prefer our data is CORRECT when entered.  Quickbooks has tied our hands on correcting this error ourselves, and failed us in getting the rate fixed for the 2nd week of the year already.     This is unacceptable.

I don't have time to wait on hold for over an hour, and some have been on hold longer with no satisfaction, it appears.

Please advise.

I understand your frustration with the delay in updating the ESC Employee tax rate for Alaska in QuickBooks. I know how important it is for accurate payroll processing, and the delay is indeed inconvenient. Allow me to share more information about this matter in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, @Bo11_2.

The recent update did not include the taxable rate for Alaska. Our Payroll Compliance team is currently addressing this issue. In the meantime, you can run regular payroll for your employees, and once the updated rate is released, it will automatically create an adjustment on your paychecks. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work together to resolve this issue.

After the latest tax table is released, you can access or download it by referring to this article: Get the latest tax table update.

I hope this issue gets resolved promptly for you and other affected users. If you have any other tax or payroll inquiries or need assistance with managing employees in QuickBooks, feel free to reach out. I'm here to help. Best wishes.

Hello there, @BSCO1 and @JET87.

I understand the challenges when updating the employee rate in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). I'm here to help you resolve this matter.

In QBDT Payroll, the SUI rate is not included in the regular tax table updates. You must update it manually.

  1. Go to the Lists menu and click Payroll Item List.
  2. Double-click [state abbreviation] - Unemployment Company.
  3. Tap Next until you reach the Company tax rates window.
  4. Enter the correct rates for each quarter.
  5. Hit Next, then Finish.

If the issue persists, I encourage you to reach out to our Payroll Care team. They can create a case to trigger an investigation and get the issue fixed in no time. Here's how:

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern in the What can we help you with? field and click Continue.
  4. Choose a way to connect (Chat or Callback).

Once everything is all set, you may also want to check out this article to guide you on what you need to get done this tax season using QBDT Payroll: Year-end checklist for QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

If you have other payroll concerns or questions about managing employees in QBDT Payroll, please don't hesitate to comment below. I'm always ready to help. Take care

The company rate was easily changed, but where I'm running into problems is the employee rate.  QB is not letting me update it.  The only options I have are 0.0% or .51%, neither are correct.
