Question

The desktop version use to auto calculate miles for trips once you entered the start and end location. It no longer does this and I have to google the mileage myself.

Greetings, @kearneyteam-abbi.

Welcome, and thanks for reaching out to the Community. I'm here to share some information about mileage tracking in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Are you referring to the Desktop app version of QBO? If so, we received reports regarding users having the same issue. A ticket was already created and forwarded to our product engineers. They're now working to fix this as quickly as possible.

That said, I highly suggest contacting our Support team so they can add your details to our notification list. This also helps our engineers determine the number of affected users. An email notification will be sent to you once this has been resolved. I'll also inform you here when we get the update as well.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. In QBO, click the Help (question mark) icon at the top right.
  2. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with.
  3. Tick Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us.

You may visit this article to see the available hours of our Support team: QuickBooks Online Support.

In the meantime, you can enter trips manually as a workaround. Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to the Mileage or Trips menu.
  2. Select Add Trip, then Create Trip.
  3. Add the trip date, starting and ending locations, distance, and purpose.
  4. Choose the vehicle you used.
  5. Hit Save.

I'm also adding this article that tackles tacking mileage automatically in QBO for more information: Automatically track mileage in QuickBooks Online.

For tips and other resources, I recommend visiting our website for future reference: Self-help articles.

Please let me know if you're referring to something else, or if you need further assistance with mileage tracking in QBO. I'll be around to help.
