Question

The IRS sent me a letter saying that my forms 941 for Q4, 2019 and Q4, 2020 are missing. How can I re-create these forms in QuickBooks?

Thanks for dropping by the Community, @paul-risk.

Let me share some information to enable you to submit your missing 941 tax form.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can check your Quarterly or Archive Forms section. The 941 forms can be accessed, printed, and sent to the tax person from there. Please take note that you’ll have to manually send them again to the IRS. Thus, you can only refer to the archived form to get the correct information. As follows:

  1. Click Taxes on the left navigation menu and choose Payroll Tax.
  2. Select Quarterly Forms.
  3. Choose Quarterly Tax Forms and 941 as your filter.
  4. Click View.
  5. Click the Printer icon.

See the tips below for more information on filing federal forms in QuickBooks Online. These will provide you with advice on how to handle disagreements and submit the forms by the deadlines:

Thanks for your response, but the forms in question do not actually exist.  I have 941 forms for Q1, Q2, Q3, 2019, and Q1, Q2, Q3, 2020, and also Q1-Q4 2021.  But Q4 2019 and Q4 2020 do not appear.  It looks like they were never created.  How can I make Quickboks re-create the forms?

Since you're still unable to see those forms, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Payroll Support Team for assistance. They have tools to check further into your account in a safe environment and verify if those forms were created.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Help (?), then click Contact Us or Assistant.

  3. Review and Select from the following: Ask the communityHave us call you, or Chat with us.

Please know that when contacting our support, ensure to reach out to them during their available hours.

Loop me in if you have other QBO-related concerns, specifically on payroll forms. I'd be glad to assist you. Take care always.
