Question

Trying to pay state payroll tax and the NJ quarterly tax says "incomplete" and it won't let me pay the monthly tax. When I try to pay quarterly it says pay the monthly.

When I click Epay for the quarterly NJ tax the date turns red and if I hover over the date box it says "Please delete this tax payment and pay the following tax payment from the current period first: NJ Income Tax". I don't see anywhere that I can delete this tax payment because it hasn't been entered yet. But I can't complete the monthly till I enter or delete the quarterly. I'm stuck in a catch-22. How do I fix this?

I want to ensure this will be taken care of, @dnpearson. I'm here to provide further assistance to help you process the payroll tax payment.

To start, you may refresh the page and attempt to pay the payroll tax again. For reference, feel free to check this article: Pay and file payroll taxes and forms in Online Payroll.

If you still encounter the error and have verified that the particular tax payment has not been entered into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, I highly recommend contacting our Payroll support team. They use specific tools to check your setup and determine what's causing the issue. They can also assist you in the payment process. Here's how:

  1. In your QBO account, select the Help icon.
  2. Next, go to the Search tab and click Contact us.
  3. From there, enter a brief description of your concern and select Continue.
  4. Then, choose either the Chat or Call option to connect with them.

For reference, feel free to check this article: Pay and file payroll taxes and forms in Online Payroll.

Additionally, running payroll reports to easily monitor and track your employee info, payroll tax data, and business finances is a breeze in QBO. To get started, visit this page for detailed instructions: Run payroll reports in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Please know that you can always come back here if you have any other tax concerns in QBO. I'm always here ready to lend a hand. Have a good one and take care.
