Union Payroll Deductions

Hello! I am the bookkeeper for a union contractor and we often work within multiple union jurisdictions. I need to know if there is a way to assign different deductions to specific hours within the SAME paycheck? For example, if an employee works (40) hours total, 20 with Union X, 32 with Union Y, and an 8 hour paid vacation day, how can I tell QB to charge the correct deductions to the correct time? Currently I am cutting (3) separate checks which is a lot more work than I would like to do and isn't super convenient for the employees.

I deeply know how important it is for you to assign different deductions to specific hours within the same paycheck, @Bookkeeper1333. Let me ensure you'll get the assistance you need.

 

As of the moment, the option to apply specific union deduction items only to the corresponding hours worked in different union jurisdictions isn't available. As a workaround, you have to create separate paychecks.

 

I can see that achieving this process would be a great addition to the program. With this, I encourage sending feature requests to our Product Developers outlining this suggestion. They're genuinely interested in hearing your input and highly encourage you to send your suggestions.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company.
  2. Click the Help icon.
  3. Select the Send Feedback Online option.
  4. Choose the Product Suggestion. A pop-up window displays.
  5. Type in your feedback suggestion.
  6. Click the Send Feedback button to submit.
