Union Payroll Providers

Does anyone have any suggestions for clients who have Union employees for payroll? The payroll processing seems to need time tracking software, job specific time reporting (which I can use TSheets for) but the QBO Payroll option doesnt have the proper union specific earnings and deductions. Other Union Payroll systems come with all of this information included in it vs having me setting it all up. I just got my client converted to QBO and do not want to lose them as a client because of payroll. If there is an external app that can integrate with QBO that would be perfect. The external app just has to be Union compliant with all its reports etc. Client prefers not being responsible for the payroll entries/processing outside of verifying the employee times etc.

    Real QB will handle Union payrolls.  I wouldn't use QB Online if I were paid by the byte.

      There are plenty of apps that can integrate with QuickBooks Online. You can search for a payroll app specific for Union earnings and deductions by locating it inside or outside QBO. You can check out this link for more details: Finding apps to use.

      Did you have any luck? I also need to set up a client's payroll with a union. There are enough unionized environments out there I feel like QuickBooks Online/Wagepoint must have figured this out by now. FYI, I'm in Canada, and the client is using TSheets.

      Hi there, @MelissaHK.

       

      You'll want to visit our QuickBooks App Store and look for a payroll app specific for Union.

       

      You also have the option to do this within QuickBooks, just click Apps on the left pane.

       

      Also, I'd suggest reaching out to our Canada Customer Support Team. One care specialist will check your account and provide steps for you.

      1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
      2. Go to the Help icon.
      3. Select Contact Us.
      4. Enter your concern, then select Continue.
      5. Click Get a callback option and then enter your contact information.

      Thanks. Honestly, I think we are going to go with a payroll company like Ceridian or ADP. They can handle all of the same things that QBO Advanced Payroll (Wagepoint) does, and they let you do hourly rates for benefits and deductions. I think it is going to be the cleanest setup at this point, and more tried and true. Thanks for the response!

        Has anyone successfully used a 3rd party app or found any other reasonable work-around for paying union dues and other union contributions by the hour in QBO (which is a profoundly simple option that is provided by QB desktop and seems to be a showstopper for company's with union employees using this product)?

          Yes, I would really like to go back to using QBO for payroll rather than the company I had to switch to upon becoming a union signatory.  I spent many hours researching this and trying to find a work-around at the end of 2020 prior to making the switch.  Please, PLEASE post if you have found a way!!

            Recently I had another consultant advise that you can use Quantum Payroll to process union payroll.  The issue my client is having is that some of the guys will work in multiple unions in one pay period and the mainstream platforms out there do not process this easily.  It's messy and cumbersome.  We are currently looking at overlay products for differing systems.

            I know of a company that can do Union payroll and union reports. They integrate to QuickBooks.

            Hello, are you still using CEM Business solutions for your union payroll?  Would you be able to give me some feedback?  We are on Quickbooks Desktop and are looking for an app that integrates to Quickbooks desktop for union payroll.  Not easy to find.
