I received notice from SSA that we are required to E File SSA W2 forms.  Does Quickbooks

E File them to SSA?  I tried calling and never got a answer they could not tell me.  I print out my W2 forms and mail them out.   Has anyone heard of this? SSA is requiring to have a SSA online account to send

them to them before the end of January 2024.

Hello there, ECorona1621.

It's definitely not the experience we want you to have when seeking assistance for your concern. Let me share information regarding your eligibility to file your W-2s electronically with QuickBooks.

Please note that the filing process will depend on your state. In this case, you can electronically file your W-2s with Quickbooks if you're from these areas: Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Utah, Virginia, or Wisconsin.

To begin with, here's how you can set up your W-2 E-filing:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop company.
  2. Go to the Employees menu, then Payroll Center.
  3. Open the QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Setup.
  4. Select the File Forms tab from the Payroll Center.
  5. On the Other Activities list at the bottom, select Change Filing Method.
  6. Click on Continue.
  7. Choose Federal Form W-2/W-3 from the list of forms and select Edit.
  8. Click E-file, then Finish. This will open the enrollment instructions that you can read and print.
  9. Close the View Enrollments window, then click Finish Later.

After that, you're now ready to create your W-2s. You can refer to these steps:

  1. Head to the Employees menu, then Payroll Tax Forms and W-2s
  2. Select Process Payroll Forms and go to the File Forms section.
  3. Select Annual Form W-2/W-3 - Wage and Tax Statement/Transmittal, then Create Form.

Lastly, proceed to these steps to send and file electronically:

  1. Select All Employees to file by batch from Process W-2s.
  2. Enter the year from the Select Filing Period section, then click OK.
  3. Choose the employees in the Select Employees for Form W-2/W-3 window.
  4. Select E-File Federal Forms, then provide your business phone number and email address.
  5. Once done, click on Submit.

You can view this material for the complete details about the process above: File your W-2 and W-3 forms.

On the other hand, consider visiting this page for an overview of the different states who'll send their forms directly to their agency: File your W-2 and W-3 forms.

Nonsense. Support is exactly the way Intuit wants it to be. If they wanted it to be different (better) it would definitely be different.
