As recently we started doing the payroll ourselves using QB Desktop Payroll 2021. The accountant takes care of taxes and everything else.

(We are asking QB community, because we might need to help our accountant understand how to perform certain tasks, as they are not computer savvy.).

Those are our options:

Create and share QB reports: which reports should we generate and email to the accountant? Please help us listing all the needed reports. Please, could you list all the needed reports?

Share the company file: (they are not familiar with this, we'll have to guide them, if possible)

Can the payroll information be shared using the Send Company File > Accountant's Copy feature?

Our accountant is using QB Enterprise, they workers often need guidance, that's why we want to ask QB experts before contacting the accountant.

We appreciate your help

Hello @DesktopPayroll2021,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I'm here to lend a hand with your payroll concerns in QuickBooks Desktop.

QuickBooks provides different reports that cater to your business needs. The reports you need will depend on the data your accountant wants.

All available reports can be accessed through the Reports menu of your QuickBooks. To help you decide which reports to share, I recommend checking out this page that shows the available reports and their descriptions: Understand reports.

If you want to send reports on a regular and recurring scheduled time, you can follow the instructions in this link: Set up and modify Scheduled Reports.

For your second question, yes, you can share your payroll data using the Accountant's Copy feature. Your accountant will receive an e-mail with a link that downloads your Accountant’s Copy.

However, your accountant will need the QuickBooks Desktop Accountant version to review your files. The ability to access data using a regular Enterprise version is unavailable.

For more information, like how to send a file through the Accountant's Copy File Service, as well as the workflow process, I recommend the following articles:

Keep us posted if you need anything else regarding the process. Have a great day.
