Question

We have a reimbursable State Unemployment Insurance account so we don't pay Part A on NYS-45. How do we delete NYS Emp Taxes that QB shows are due?

We only pay Withholding Taxes (Part B NYS-45). QB shows we still owe $1,205.65 which is incorrect. We cannot File our Federal Form 940 without showing our payment is made (but we don't owe it). Help!

Hi there, @deby3.

I want to make sure you'll be able to delete NYS Emp taxes so you can file your 940 form. I'd like to redirect you to the best support group available to get this addressed right away.

Since QuickBooks isn't allowing you to file the 940 form because of the owed amount of NYS taxes, I recommend reaching out to our Payroll Support Team. This way, they can further check on the due owed amount and help you delete the NYS Emp taxes. They can also make an adjustment on your payroll to correct the taxes so you can proceed with filing your 940 form. To reach them, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Click the Help button.
  3. In the QuickBooks Assistance chatbox, select Talk to a human and choose I still need a human.
  4. Select Contact Us.

You might want to check out this article: Payroll Tax Compliance Links. This helps you find details on New York tax forms, withholdings, unemployment, and other tax.

Please touch base with me here for all of your QuickBooks needs. I'm always happy to help, @deby3.
