Question

We have two phones to track milage, mine and my husbands. only his phone has been tracking miles. How can I fix this?

I can help you troubleshoot this issue. To begin with, let's make sure that the auto-tracking feature is turned on. When this feature is turned off, it can sometimes prevent the device from recording the miles. Let me provide you with a step-by-step guide on switching to this feature. 

 

  1. Open the QuickBooks Self-Employed mobile app.
  2. Click the Menu ☰ icon.
  3. Select the Mileage menu.
  4. Choose and turn on Auto-tracking.
  5. After you turn on Auto-Tracking for the first time, you'll need to authorize the app to use location services. Pick your device to see the next steps:

Android devices:

 

  • For Android OS version 10 and below, select Allow, then Allow all the time.
  • For Android OS version 11 and above, select Allow in settings, then Allow all the time.

Apple devices:

 

  1. Click Allow Once.
  2. Then, open Settings on your device.
  3. Tap Privacy.
  4. Hit Location Services.
  5. Find and tap the QuickBooks Self-Employed app.
  6. Choose Always.

However, I suggest resetting your mobile app if the auto-tracking feature is already turned on and your phone is still not tracking the miles.
 

You can follow the steps below for the process:

 

  1. Select Help in the upper right corner
  2. Choose Reset App Data.

 

Once done, try to log in to your QBSE mobile app. You may uninstall and reinstall the app if you still get the same results.
