We need to assign employee wages in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll to multiple classes by percentage. How would we set this up?

We have 6 employees split between classes.

  • one salary split 8 classes
  • one hourly split 3 classes
  • one salary split 7 classes
  • one salary split 3 classes
  • two salary split  2 classes

Please advise.

You can't split a salary by percentage, but you can by hours.  To do this, enter the salary item multiple times on the paycheck in the earnings table and then the hours worked for each row/class.

ok we don't track salary by hours. I am thinking I will need to do a journal entry each month to reclass wages. Extra work.
