Thanks for notifying us of your concern, Julie. Let's figure out the reason for the unsuccessful direct deposit in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

If you received an email from Intuit about an unsuccessful direct deposit or payroll debit, you can refer to this article for a list of return codes:  Understand the ACH (Automated Clearing House) return code reference chart. Doing so helps you identify the reason for the failure and suggest a possible course of action.

You'll also want to work with your bank to ensure they accept payroll debits from Intuit and check for any issues with your account.

Once done, I suggest contacting our Payroll support to verify the reason for the unsuccessful direct deposit and receive guidance on the next steps. To do that:

  1. Go to the Help icon and click Contact Us.
  2. Provide a brief description of your concern and select Continue.
  3. Choose between Chat with us and Have us call you.

Alternatively, you can pay your employee with a check or send another direct deposit paycheck. Then, record the rejected deposit to ensure accuracy in your accounts. For the complete instructions, please see this reference: Handle a direct deposit paycheck that was not received by an employee.

Additionally, view, customize, and print payroll reports in QBO to easily access important business and employee details, helpful for year-end tax filing.

Let me know whenever you have further questions concerning direct deposits. It's my priority to assist. Take care, and have a good one.
