Question

What do I do if my employer name is incorrect on my w2s and w3 but everything else is correct. Do I need to do a correction for that?

Yes, you'll still need to correct that to stay compliant with the rules/regulations of the SSA. If you're using the automated tax payments and form filings, you'll need to contact our Payroll Support Team to request a correction. We’ll fix it for you, file a W-2c form, and mail the copy to the employees. Here's how;

 

  1. Go to the Help icon.
  2. Select Talk to a human.
  3. Enter "Talk to a human" again in the search bar.
  4. Choose I still need a human, then click Contact us.
  5. Select Get a callback or Send a message to start a conversation.

If you file the forms on your own, you'll have to correct it manually and file Form W-2c with the Social Security Administration outside QuickBooks Online. To be guided in performing this process you can check the General Instructions for Forms W-2 and W-3.
