Question

When I go to send my tax profile to Turbo Tax I get a message telling me my business miles exceed my total miles and I need to fix this before sending?

Good day, and welcome to the Community, thewoodengardene.

Let's work together and ensure you can send your tax information from QuickBooks Self-Employed to TurboTax.

Since you've already confirmed the total number of miles in QuickBooks Self-Employed, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate and fix this issue.

We'll start by accessing your QuickBooks Self-Employed account in a private/incognito window. Depending on the browser you're using, use these keyboard shortcuts below:

  • Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

Once done, resend your tax information to TurboTax. If it works, go back to your regular browser window and clear its cache. Alternatively, you can use other supported browsers for the best experience.

Also, QuickBooks Self-Employed calculates the deduction using the IRS's standard mileage method. You can check out this article to learn more: Learn how QuickBooks Self-Employed calculates mileage deductions.

Let me know if you have other questions or concerns about mileage. I'll be here to lend a helping hand. Take care!
