Question

When I was entering employees, I added a prior payroll. I discovered that one person was entered incorrectly, how do I change that?

In Step 8 of editing a person's personal information as I did when I entered the prior payroll, step 8 is now gone. I need to change the previous month's payroll and deductions before I started using QuickBooks.

I'll share details about recording or editing old payroll transactions, hurlbuttownship.

You can only edit a prior payroll if you haven't created any paychecks yet. If that's the case, follow these steps on how to edit it:

  1. Go back to Payroll and select Finish adding your team.
  2. Select the name of the employee.
  3. Scroll down and click Enter [current year] prior pay details.

If paychecks are already created, you'll need to reach out to our Payroll Support Team. They can access your account and make the changes for you. Here's how:

  1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right hand corner of your QBO account.
  2. Type in "Talk to a human" in the chatbox, then press Enter.
  3. Select Get help from a human.
  4. Click Chat with us or Have us call you.

Here's an article about this feature for more details: Set Up a Prior Payroll for QuickBooks Online Payroll.
