Question

When you change the employer address in QBO payroll, does it update the tax agency? Or do we need to do that separately?

I’ve got the information you need about updating the employer address, @drebailey.

Yes, you need to update your filing or legal business address separately. Please know that QuickBooks Online Payroll won’t change your legal business name and address with the IRS, state, and local tax agencies. You must submit the change directly to Florida.

Once done, you’ll want to contact our account maintenance team to update this information within the program. This is to ensure your payroll tax forms are correct and match the state agency records.

Here’s how:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select the Help (?) menu.
  3. In the Assistant window, type in “Talk to a human” in the field.
  4. Enter “Change business address,” then go to the Contact option.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert
    • Get a callback from the next available expert
