I'd be glad to provide the steps you need, fred18.

You can follow these steps to update the paid preparer information:

  1. Go to Company > My Company.
  2. In the Company Information section, select the pencil icon to edit.
  3. Click the Payroll Tax Form Information when you get the Company Information window.
  4. Modify the paid preparer information, and then hit OK.

I'm also adding this article that you can use for reference: Set payroll preferences in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

I followed the instructions. When I got to the edit autofill, the paid preparer section was faded and it would not let me edit that section.  Any advice?

Thanks for joining in on this thread, Integrated.

Let me share some insights about the Paid Preparer and how you can modify the information.

Here are the possible reasons why you're unable to edit the Paid Preparer section:

  • You aren't signed up for Enhanced Payroll for Accountants.
  • Your Enhanced Payroll for Accountants subscription has expired. To renew your subscription, go to the Employees menu, click Get Payroll Updates. The, select the Subscribe button.

If you're signed up to the Enhanced Payroll and your subscription is active, let's do the following:

Once done with the update, log in as an Admin in your company. Then, try to edit the Paid Preparer information.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Company My Company.
  2. In the Company Information section, select the pencil icon to edit.
  3. Click the Payroll Tax Form Information when you get the Company Information window.
  4. Modify the paid preparer information, and then hit OK.

If you're still getting the same result, you'll want to do the Verify and Rebuild Data. This way, we can check any data issues within a company file and fix it.

You can follow the instructions in this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps above. I want to make sure this is resolved for you. Please feel free to leave a reply on post and I'll get back to you. Have a great day ahead.
