Question

Why are my part time employees set up automatically to pay on Thursdays and not Fridays like all of my other employees?

Hi there, bgodard.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing steps to ensure you can pay your part-time and regular employees on the same date in QuickBooks Online.

Part-time employees can be paid the same way as your regular employees by assigning pay schedules to their employee setup.  With this, it could be the date assigned to your part-time employees is set up on Thursday, which is why they automatically pay on that day.

I recommend going to the Employment details section and reviewing the date being allocated to your employees and making sure to update on Friday.

Here's how:

  1. Choose the Payroll menu on the left panel and choose the Employees section.
  2. Choose a particular employee.
  3. Go to the Employment details section and click Start or Edit.
  4. From the Pay schedule ▼ dropdown arrow, select the pay schedule for the employee moving forward. Or, to create a new pay schedule, select + Add pay schedule.
  5. Fill out other necessary fields. Then select Save.
  6. When you're done, click Save.

Then, you can open this article to see further details and what are the types of pay schedules you can assign to your employees: Set up and manage payroll schedules.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to view different payroll reports you can use to view useful information about your business and employees: Run payroll reports in QuickBooks Online Payroll.
