Hi there, susanita1.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be providing details on how taxes work in QuickBooks Self Employed. Then, ensure your entries are associated with the correct category.

The program computes your self-employed taxes based on your self-employed income, deductions, predicted future income for the year, and tax profile. It constantly updates your estimates based on what you enter to give you accurate details. It could be the reason why your quarterly taxes are labeled as business spending.

Therefore, it's important to add all of your business income and expenses and categorize them properly in QuickBooks. I recommend changing the category of the quarterly taxes to the right classification on the Transactions page.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu in the left panel.
  2. Find the transaction you wanted to change the category.
  3. On the TYPE column, change it from Income to Business.
  4. Under CATEGORY, select any of your expense categories.
  5. Fill in or change the other necessary field.
  6. Click Save.

You can click on this article to view additional details on how you can change the category of your transactions: Categorize and edit transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to see steps on how you can remove transactions downloaded from your bank to avoid double entries: Exclude or delete transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Let me know if you need further assistance with this matter. I'm always around to provide answers and clarifications to your questions. Have a great day ahead and take care.
