Question

Why are wages no longer showing up as divided out when I run a P&L by Class? I code the timesheets before running payroll.

This is a recent development. They've been showing up, but now are all lumped into just Service or New Construction.

Hi pondgnome,

 

Let's resolve why the wages are lumped into either Service or New Construction account.

 

It's possible that the payroll expenses or the classes are mapped into the mentioned account. Here's how to verify:

 

  1. From the Gear icon, select Payroll settings.
  2. Click the edit (pencil) icon on the Accounting section.
  3. Verify that the Wage expenses are mapped correctly.
  4. Go to the Class tracking section and ensure you've selected the correct accounts.
  5. Click Done.

 

Once done, let's reopen the Profit and Loss by Class report. Then, check to see if it's showing the correct accounts.

 

If the payroll expense and classes are entered correctly, yet, the same issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our payroll experts so we can investigate it. You can do so by clicking the ? Help icon.

Thank you so much for answering my question. Nothing has changed in my set-up; I double-checked. Things were working just fine before; however, I do have the Classes being mapped into either New Construction or Service & Maintenance. Should I eliminate that? I want to be able to track the classes on their timesheets so that I can run a P&L report on each type of service (Class), and it will include wages. This was working just fine for months and months, and now it has stopped working. The guys work different Class jobs on different days, so I can't just map each employee to one specific Class.

Since there are no changes that were made to your set-up, there's no need to remove the classes that are currently mapped.

 

I recommend you reaching out to our Support Team. They have the necessary tools and resources to check and resolve the issue you are facing. They will be able to access your account information and ensure the security and privacy of your information. Here's how: 

 

  1. Sign in to your QBO company.
  2. Go to the Help (?) menu.
  3. Select the Search tab.
  4. Click the Contact Us button.
  5. Enter a brief description of your concern in the What can we help you with? field.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. Choose a way to connect with us (Send a message / Chat or Get a callback / Callback)
