Why didn't a former employee not receive a w2 from quickbooks

Hello there, @bizcoachllc. I'm here to ensure you'll be able to send W2s to your former employee in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
 

In QBO, mailed W-2s will be delivered within 7 business days. If the employee hasn't received the forms in the allocated time, let's verify the email address entered and ensure that it is correct. Here's how: 

 

  1. In your QBO account, select Payroll and click Employees.
  2. From there, select the employee’s name.
  3. Then, click Edit employee.
  4. Check the address of the employee
     

On the other hand, they can also log in to their QuickBooks Workforce account (if still active) and view their W2 form there. 

 

If this does not work, you can print the form and manually send it to them. I'll guide you on how.

 

  1. Navigate to the Taxes menu and click Payroll Tax.
  2. Then, select Filings. 
  3. Select View.
  4. You'll see a question asking if you or your employees contributed to a retirement plan outside of QBO. Choose Yes or No, then follow steps 1 - 3 to get back to your W-2 or W-3 form.
  5. Next, click the Print icon on the Adobe Reader toolbar. Then, select Print again.
