Question

Why do I have an entire year missing in quick books? 2020 and 2022 is recorded but not 2021?

I got your back, @misty26. I'm here to provide steps to help you see the entries for the year 2021 in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To start, let's check your Audit log to determine any actions made to the entries for that year. Here's how:

  1. In your QBO account, navigate to the Settings icon and select Audit Log.
  2. Next, click the Filter button.
  3. Use the fields on the Filter panel to choose the appropriate UserDate, or Events filter to narrow the results.
  4. When done, click Apply.

If this doesn't work, could you tell me if you've recently changed your banking information such as account number, username, or password on their website? This may be the reason for the missing transactions. If so, you can update your account to refresh the connection with QBO. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select Banking.
  2. Next, open the account you're having problems with.
  3. Then, click the Update button.

If the same thing happens, I recommend checking your uncategorized accounts. Those missing transactions may be there. Refer to the steps below:

  1. Select the Accounting menu.
  2. Then, click the Chart of Accounts tab.
  3. From there, find the Uncategorized Income or Uncategorized Expenses account.
  4. Select the Run report button.
  5. Look for your missing transaction on the report.

However, if you still can't see them, you can manually upload 2021 bank transactions in QBO via CSV files instead.

Please let me know how this goes. If you have any other concerns about managing bank transactions in QBO, feel free to leave a reply below. I'm always here ready to lend a hand. Have a good one and take care.
