Question

Why does someone (an accountant) Who doesn't pay for my account have more features than I do. How come I can not revert back to a date and undo certain things?

Hello, sparkercreativel.

I'd like to lay down some solutions to help you undo certain entries in QuickBooks.

Accountants have a special QuickBooks Online (QuickBooks Online Accountant Edition) access where they can access a variety of tools not available in a regular subscription. They need those tools to easily manage their client's books and accounts.

I take it that you're trying to undo your reconciled transactions. There are two options to help you revert back to a date and undo the reconciliation.

The first option is to go to your register in the Chart of Accounts, then undo the transactions one at a time. Here's how:

  1. Go to your Chart of Accounts, then click the View register on the reconciled bank account.
  2. Find the transactions an “R” under the checkmark column.
  3. Select the transaction to expand the view.
  4. Under the checkmark column, click the box with the “R” until it's blank.
  5. Hit Save.

Another option is to have your accountant access your books, then undo the reconciled transactions in batches

However if the balance sheet issue is from an erroneous transaction entry, we can correct it by editing the entry or deleting it from your books. Check with your accountant if this is an entry from a closed accounting period.

If you need to correct certain transactions on a reconciled period, we have a guide to help you with the process: Fix issues for accounts you've reconciled in the past in QuickBooks Online

If you need help in preparing for the year-end taxes in QuickBooks, I'll add this article: Year-end guide for QuickBooks Online

You can always drop by here if you have questions about your books or account access. If you have concerns regarding the rest of your entries or reports, let me know and I'll help you out.
