I've just tried to run payroll for my company and every employee has been changed from direct deposit to paper check. I can't find a way to change it back.

I've got you covered, @Ian Austin.

One of the possible reasons why the payment method of your payroll changed from direct deposit to paper check is one of the users changed it. To verify, let's run to the Audit Log report to check if there are changes made to your payroll payment method. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Click the Gear icon, then select Audit log.
  3. Utilize the filter section to find the payroll transaction easily.
  4. Select View to show the history of the transaction.
  5. From there, you can confirm if someone changed the payment method from direct deposit to paper check.

If it was changed, you can modify the payment method manually when running payroll. Let me guide you through the steps.

  1. Click Payroll from the left menu, then select Employees.
  2. Select Run payroll.
  3. On the Run Payroll page, click the Paper check under the Pay Method column.
  4. Change it to Direct deposit.
  5. Click OK to confirm.
  6. Repeat the steps for the rest of your employees.

Once done, you can proceed with running payroll. I'm adding this article for more guidance: Process or run payroll.

You might want to run payroll reports in QBO. This will help you view useful information about your business and employees.
