Question

Why is our new employee's paycheck NOT appearing in our payroll bank account REGISTER (the transactions were downloaded from the bank account)?

The paycheck may have been deposited into a different bank account, which is why you can't find the transaction in the register, accounting-ville. Let’s check the bank account and transfer the money to the correct one to keep everything organized.

Begin by opening the paycheck to check the bank account associated with it. Here’s the process:

  1. Navigate to the Payroll menu on the left panel and select Employees.
  2. On the Payroll screen, click the Paycheck list link in the right-hand corner.
  3. Press the Filter drop-down and set the correct date to easily locate the paycheck.
  4. Once found, click on the paycheck to view the transaction details.
  5. Go to the Paid from section and check the bank account.

After that, head to your Payroll Settings to see which bank is used for payroll tracking by following these steps.

  1. Head to the Gear ⚙ icon and select Payroll settings.
  2. In the Accounting section, press the Edit ✎ option.
  3. Click the Pencil icon in the Bank Account section to display the Paycheck and payroll tax payments window.
  4. In the Bank account section, check the account used for payroll. If it's incorrect, choose the right one from the list.
  5. Select Save and Done.

After performing these steps, create a journal entry to transfer the amount from one bank to another. For more insights on updating the company's payroll bank account and account settings, check these links:
