Why is the error "The QuickBooks enhanced Payroll for unlimited employees service is not currently available. Please try again later. [PS060]" when updating payroll?

I have the solutions you can perform to help fix the error when updating payroll, @cchoabookkeeper. 

 

Here are some of the possible reasons you're getting PS060 error when you download payroll updates: 

  • The service info isn't correct. 
  • The security and software requirements aren't updated. 
  • There are QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) folders that are damaged. 
  • You have a duplicate copy of QBDT on your computer. 

 

First, let's make sure your service info is correct. Before that, you can disable the antivirus temporarily if you're using an antivirus program on your computer. Just go to Windows Security from the Start menu and select Virus & threat protection in the Manage settings tab. Then, switch Real-time protection to Off. Once done, proceed with the steps below. 

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Reopen QBDT.
  3. Ensure your account info is up to date. If not, update it. 
  4. Download the latest payroll tax table again. 

 

Second, let's go to the Product Information window to check if your software is registered. This way, you'll be able to know that you have the latest security and software improvements. Here's how: 

  1. Open the program. 
  2. To open the Product Information window, press the F2 key. 
  3. In the License number section, check if it says Activated.
  4. If not activated, register the software. 
  5. Update QBDT to the latest release. 
  6. Redownload the latest payroll tax table.

If the first two solutions don't work, let's repair the program to check if its files need some fixing. Fourth, make sure you only have one installation of the same QBDT version on your computer. For more details, perform the third to ninth solutions through this article: Fix PSXXX errors.

I gave it up that evening and when I went back the next day, the update downloaded just fine. I think your service was just down. 
You could’ve just said that...

    I have been unable to pay my empoyees for two days because of this error PS060 which will not allow me to do payroll updates.  Can someone please help? Emily

    Hello there, @Emily11_2.

     

    Payroll error PS060 in QuickBooks occurs when a regular user performs the payroll operations in QuickBooks software. When the error crops up, you will see an error message that says, “Current Enhanced Payroll Service is Unavailable.” To resolve this, you'll have to check your credit card detail in QuickBooks.

     

    Here's how:

     

    1. In QuickBooks Desktop, go to Product & Services and click your subscribed payroll service

    2. Under the Billing Information tab, locate Payment Method and click Edit for Payment Method.

    3. Now provide the accurate payment details and click Save and Close.

    4. Check if all the payroll subscription information such as billing and various others are correct.
