Website ONLY says that "Status=Submitted" means we have e-Filed the Form to the IRS. NO Where it mentions Form 1096's which, is the summary of 1099-NEC's and/or 1099-MISC's. Form 1096's are normally required when Paper Filing.

It's nice to see your post here, doctorestime.

I'm here to share some clarifications regarding the submission of the 1096 form.

According to the IRS's most recent publication on Form 1096, one do not need to submit 1096 if they already file their 1099-MISC forms electronically (such as with Intuit's E-file service). The Submitted status means you have already e-filed with the IRS.

In case you need a handy reference about the process of E-filing or printing and emailing your 1099s, here's a guide that can help you out: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online.

You can visit this article for more information regarding the service: 1099's E-file FAQ here.

I'm always up for additional questions about managing 1096 and 1099 forms. Let me know if you have one by leaving a comment below. Wishing you a great day ahead!

Pre-printed 1099-NEC kits are compatible with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Payroll, QuickBooks Desktop 2020 or later, and QuickBooks for Mac 2020 or later.
