I finally got an IIF file to import into Quickbooks from a project management and time keeping software called Procore.

I can not figure out how to use those hours to create paychecks

Hi, @1944Allis. It's great to know you've successfully imported the IIF file of time entries into your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This is a great first step, and I want to ensure I guide you in using the imported hours to create paychecks in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Before we proceed, verify you have an active QuickBooks Payroll subscription. Without an active subscription, you won’t be able to create and process paychecks.

Next, review that the timesheets have been successfully imported and mapped to the correct payroll items, customer:job, and employees. You can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Employees menu. Then, Enter Time, and select Use Weekly Timesheet.
  2. From the Name drop-down list, pick the name of one of your employees.
  3. Use the Previous and Next to navigate between weekly timesheets or click the Calendar icon.
  4. Ensure that a timesheet is present from when you expect it to be, and verify if it's associated with the correct Customer:Job, Service Item, and Payroll Item.
  5. Click Save & Close when done.

After this, you’ll automatically see all the entered hours for the covered pay period when creating a Scheduled Payroll or Unscheduled Payroll to create paychecks. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu, Pay Employees, and choose Scheduled Payroll (or Unscheduled Payroll depending on your need).
  2. Select the appropriate schedule (e.g., Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly, etc.) and click Start Scheduled Payroll.
  3. You’ll see all their hours for this pay period already entered since you're using timesheets.
  4. Choose Open Paycheck Detail to verify the pay period, payroll items, rate, hours, and the overall check amount.
  5. Click on Save & Next to go to the next employee, or pick Save & Close to go back to the Enter Payroll Information window.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. Review the Check/Direct Deposit printing options.
  8. Hit Create Paychecks.

If you need to get a quick view of your payroll totals, you can run a Payroll Summary report. I'm adding this article as a guide: Create a payroll summary report in QuickBooks.

I hope these steps guide you on using imported hours to create paychecks in QBDT. If you encounter any issues or require further assistance, feel free to click on the Reply button. We're committed to offering ongoing support. Take care!
