Question

Can anyone help...my mtd will not allow me to submit my vat return as it states it cannot connect with hmrc and to leave it 72 hours,.ive done this but no success ????

Sometimes you'll experience issues when submitting to HMRC. I'll guide you on how to fix this, Richard.

 

When connecting with Making Tax Digital (MTD) to submit a return, ensure to check the email confirmation from HRMC. This will confirm if your connection is successful and usually this takes up to 72 hours.

 

Once done, the email will now have your new MTD credentials which can be used to set up the MTD feature in QuickBooks. However, if you're still getting the same, check your VAT registration number. It should match the one you use in QuickBooks. Usually, when you're using a different VAT registration number, you may experience issues when submitting your return. Make sure to check your VAT settings.
