This isn't the kind of experience we want you to have with QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP), @Mike220359.

Our top priority here in Intuit is to let our valued customers use our payroll product in effectively managing employees as well as filing and paying taxes. However, if you think the service isn't meeting your business needs, you can cancel your payroll account through the Billing & Subscription page.

Before cancelling your payroll account, make sure to do the following:

  • Complete and process your final payroll
  • Print necessary payroll reports
  • Pay any outstanding tax deposits
  • Process and file any outstanding annual or quarterly forms

Once ready, here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and settings.
  3. Go to the Billing & Subscription menu.
  4. In the Payroll section, select Cancel.
  5. Fill out the online cancellation form to complete the process.

Additionally, here's an article that'll effectively guide you in managing the growth of your business: Help articles. It includes topics about account management, reports, and taxes to name a few. Just select a product (either QuickBooks Online or QBOP) to helps us customise your help experience.

Please know that you're welcome to comment below if you have other concerns or follow-up inquiries about managing your QuickBooks subscriptions. I'm just around to help. Take care always.

Thank you for your reply, however I havent been able to cancel my Payroll subscription since there is no Cancel button to 'press' on the Payroll section you described.

There are a couple of reasons why you don't see the Cancel button, Mike.

It's possible that you're not logged in as the Admin or the payroll subscription is on a trial account.

Make sure you're using an Admin access to be able to cancel the subscription. If you can see a Subscribe button, it means that you're still on a trial period. If so, the system will automatically end your subscription at the end of trial.

If you already paid for the subscription and is already logged in as the admin, it's also possible that a browser issue is hiding the Cancel button. I'll share some steps on how to resolve common browser issues when working in QuickBooks Online. Here's how:

Use an incognito/private browsing session just in case the same issue appears. Use these keyboard shortcuts to initiate an incognito browsing session:

  • Ctrl Shift N  for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift P  for Firefox
  • Control Option +if you're using Safari
  • Ctrl Shift P for Microsoft Edge

You can also delete cache or use any of browsers that I've enumerated above. They all work well with QBO.

Lastly, you can reach out to our phone support team just in case you can't still see the Cancel after that. They'll be able to verify your account and help you manage your subscriptions. Here's how to get their contact details:

  1. Click the Help button in the upper-right corner of QBO.
  2. Type in "cancel" in the bottom of the page and press Enter.
  3. Look for the contact phone number in the response.

Please know that we're always here in case you have any other questions. We'll make sure that you're able to sort it out.
