Does anyone know how to submit a previous year EYU? I'm on advanced payroll but the taxes button doesnt show payroll taxes (which is what QB help tells me to do)

You're correct that Earlier Year Update (EYU) is no longer a valid submission for the tax year 2020 and subsequent tax years. That said, you'll have to submit a Full Payment Submission (FPS) to HMRC that shows all payments to employees, along with any deductions.

 

To answer your query, yes, the FPS is within QuickBooks. Also, submitting FPS depends on the payroll service you're using. You can use either of these two resources that match your service:

 

 

Additionally, QuickBooks offers several payroll reports that you can pull up to access your business and employee information. To get started, please refer to this article: Customise payroll and employee reports.

I'm here to help submit your previous year's Earlier Year Update (EYU), @NicolaW.

 

Submitting EYU depends on the payroll service you're using. Since you're on the Advanced payroll, you'll have to submit it through HMRC basic tools.

 

If you don't see an option to send your previous year's EYU via HMRC basic tools, I recommend reaching out to HMRC. This way, they can provide more information on how to submit it to them.

 

You might also want to send your Employer Payment Summary (EPS) in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced Payroll. This article will guide you on when to submit it: Submit Employer Payment Summary (EPS).

I have just gone onto the government website and it states that you only use EYU for the years up to 2020.

After that use FPS. 

Is that FPS on QB or basic tools?

Hi,

 

If you're on QBO go to payroll, reports, and then choose Employer Payment Summary (EPS) report. 

 

You can choose the payroll year and run the report then submit to HMRC, which uses RTI
