Question

Employment Allowance adjusted twice on 5 April

I noticed that the 'Tax Payment' to adjust for Employment Allowance for month 12 2024/25 has hit the ledger twice yesterday. Therefore the adjustement is double counted.

Is this a known bug?

Can one of the payments be deleted safely?

Or am I safer doing an offsetting journal to cancel the impact of 1 of the adjustments and bring the ledger back to the correct position.

Hello, richard96! It's wonderful to have you back in the Community! I hope you're doing well. Keeping your Employment Allowance data accurate is crucial for seamless tax processing with HMRC. Rest assured, our team is dedicated to resolving this promptly, allowing you to concentrate on what truly matters: managing your business activities.

It's not advisable to delete the double-counted Employment Allowance adjustment or use an offsetting journal, as this could impact your financial records. Instead, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Payroll Live Support team. They are trained to investigate the issue thoroughly and guide you on the best steps to take. Here’s how you can connect with them:

  1. Go to the Help (?) menu.
  2. Select the Assistant tab to get help from the QB assistant, or select the Search tab to enter your question and find Help articles.
  3. If you choose the Search tab, enter keywords or the topic that best describes your issue and click the Contact Us button.
  4. Choose a way to connect (Have us call you or Chat with us) in the How would you like to connect with us? page.

Additionally, the Employer Payment Summary (EPS) is an important report you may need to submit to HMRC along with your Full Payment Submission (FPS). It provides essential details about each employee's National Insurance contributions and tax deductions. To help you navigate the submission requirements and deadlines, check out this article: How to submit an EPS in QuickBooks Online Payroll.
